Edmund Sabanegh, Jr., MD
Edmund Sabanegh Jr., MD, will serve as President and CEO The Guthrie Clinic on 09/13
Sabanegh is moving from the Cleveland Clinic to the Pennsylvania and New York health systems, where he has held several medical leadership positions culminating in a position as president of the Cleveland Clinic main campus and regional hospitals. Under that title, he led a team of over 12,000 clinical nurses, helped expand clinical services to patients, oversaw acquisitions and integrations of new hospital systems, and achieved the organization’s highest nursing commitment to date.
Sabenegh also served in the US Air Force for 21 years. There he held senior positions including chief medical officer, chief advisor to the surgeon general and chief operating officer in the largest hospital in the military.
According to Guthrie’s announcement, Sabanegh has value-based care, technical innovation and affordability on the crosshairs of his new system. He reaches Joseph Scopellit, MD, who has served as President and CEO since 2012.
Big rounds of health and doctor on call
Shayna Schulz joins Big rounds of health and doctor on call as Chief Operating Officer of the recently merged virtual care company.
She comes to the new position with a lot of experience in the insurance industry.
Schulz most recently served as Senior Vice President of Medicare and Specialty at Blue Shield of California as well as other titles with innovation, operational strategy and membership experience. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Customer Service at Allstate and Vice President and Chief Communications Officer of AIG’s SunAmerica Financial Group.
At Grand Rounds Health and Doctor On Demand, Schulz will run the patient care team. She will also be responsible for improving the customer experience, developing new talent, and growing the virtual nursing company’s business.
Glenn Keet is the new Vice President of Health Information Exchange (HIE) strategy at Citizen, a technology company that helps patients use their medical data to discover treatment options.
Keet comes to the platform with over 35 years of experience in healthcare information technology.
In 1995 he co-founded the HIE software provider Axolotl, which was taken over by Optum in 2010. After a stint at the healthcare company, he moved to management positions at the healthcare data and analysis companies ClinCapture, HealthLevel and Clinithink.
For Ciitizen, Keet will use his background to help the platform strengthen its relationships with other health information organizations. He will also oversee the HIE business, which Ciitizen acquired from Stella Technology just a few months ago.
John Broberg retires from his role as CEO of Northeast Kansas Hospital Amberwell Hiawatha on 08/31
Broberg has been in the healthcare industry for nearly half a century and has held CEO positions at four different hospitals over the course of his career.
He had retired from Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan in 2016 to start executive coaching when he was appointed interim CEO of Amberwell Hiawatha (then Hiawatha Community Hospital) that same year. He then returned in 2019 to serve full-time as CEO, supporting the hospital’s recent affiliation with Amberwell Health.
Jeff Perry, CEO of Amberwell Atchison, will take over as chief executive of both hospitals after Brogerg retires.
Ada health, Maker of an AI-based symptom checker, announced three new management positions: Gülsah Wilke as operations manager, Torsten Schero as CFO and Vanessa Lemarié as Chief Client Officer.
Cigna has called Bonnie Evelyn as Market President for Health and Related Benefit Plans in the Georgia, Alabama Payer Market. You replaced Bryan Holgersonwho rose the ladder to Chief Underwriting Officer of Cigna US Commercial.

Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center has chosen Cheryl Lee, MD, as the first Chief Health Equity Officer responsible for the newly established Office of Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
