The decision applies to those who work in the State Health Directorate and State Employee Insurance. However, it is only valid until May 2022.

In May 2021, 193 senior officials from the Maharashtra Medical and Health Services and ESIC were due to retire at the age of 60 under the pension criteria. An official said that in light of the pandemic and the projection of a third wave of Covid-19, the state health ministry has decided to extend its tenure until May 31, 2022 by issuing a government decision.

According to the cabinet decision, all civil servants who work as medical officers and above will be retired at the age of 62.
