Homewood at Williamsport: Completely happy Retirement | Journal information

Homewood at Williamsport is the original Homewood Congregation founded in 1932. For 89 years, the retirement home has provided compassionate, professional and caring service to improve the quality of life of its residents, customers and employees.

Designed on 28 acres near Hagerstown, Maryland, Homewood offers independent living without the maintenance of home ownership.

Residents have a variety of options, including apartments and cottages with different floor plans. One, two, and three bedroom options are available to suit the needs of each resident.

For those in need of an advanced level of assistance, Homewood offers assisted living, which includes everything from medication management to assistance with bathing or getting dressed and housekeeping to behavior management with everything in between. The nursing staff is available around the clock. Hilltop Assisted Living at Homewood offers the perfect blend of independence and support.

Homewood also offers high quality skilled nursing, specialized memory nursing and restorative therapy in the compassionate, comfortable environment of its health center. The services focus on the physical, social and emotional well-being of the residents, giving them as much independence as possible.

Additionally, the Canterbury Rehabilitation Program at Homewood bridges the hospital-home gap for those in need of speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy.

Functional Pathways, a virtual rehabilitation platform, has proven quite successful at Homewood. Through the Covid-19 pandemic, employees have struggled to learn to do things a little differently by using Zoom, Facebook, and other online options when following state and state guidelines.

In addition, the Memory Care services are tailored to the individual needs of each resident. Whether it’s Alzheimer’s, dementia or other issues, any comprehensive plan is adjusted as needed to keep the daily quality of life safe and compassionate.

Homewood is a Medicare-certified care center that provides 24/7 care from licensed, certified, long-term employees. They accept Medicare and most private insurance plans.

Residents can take advantage of Homewood’s community center, which has a chapel / multipurpose room, lounge and supermarket, as well as dining room, library and other public areas. Residents also have access to the fitness center, indoor pool and hot tub, computer room, and outdoor garden areas, as well as a hiking trail.

Homewood remained open throughout the pandemic, albeit to a limited extent to visitors. The center is now open but continues to follow guidelines to ensure the safety of residents, staff and guests. Residents have also returned to activities with their peers.

Those interested in learning more about Homewood can visit their website at www.homewoodwilliamsport.com.
