Blake Shelton to depart ‘the Voice’ in 2021? retirement provision
Many wonder if Blake Shelton is leaving The Voice after coaching the series for 20 years – and it looks like the country crooner just gave his fans a hint.
During a recent interview with presenters Hoda and Jenna on the TODAY show, 44-year-old Shelton spoke about his involvement with former voice coach Gwen Stefani, 51, and gave clues about what their upcoming wedding would be for his time on NBC Talent series could mean. The “God’s Country” singer announced that he would like to settle down with his fiancée “sooner than later” when asked about his future plans, prompting some fans to contemplate his possible exit from the series.
Hoda asked Shelton, “In ten years, imagine you and Gwen, right now in Oklahoma, and not splashing around all over the place? Do you see yourself having a much easier life on the road? “The country star admitted he was hoping for this lifestyle sooner than the host suggested:” I hope this isn’t too far away. Ten years sounds way too long to me, “he said.” I’d like to see that sooner rather than later. “
Shelton continued, “I mean, we’ve both come a long way in our careers and touring, and now we’ve come to television. I was lucky to achieve many things. But hopefully at some point we’ll get the chance to have a life. I think we’re both honestly ready for it. “The voice coach noted that as he got older, he felt more like a ‘recluse’. “The older I get, the more I feel like I’m turning into a hermit,” he joked. “Just pass things on, other than interviews with you, Hoda.”
During his appearance on the talk show, Shelton also revealed when he plans to tie the knot with Stefani. “I’m afraid if you and I wait until November next, I’ll be right back on the voice cycle,” he said. “And I really want to be able to have plenty of time before and after.” The Happy Anywhere singer further confirmed that he and Stefani, who got engaged in October 2020, are planning a summer ceremony. “So hopefully this summer now,” he said. “I think we’re right here with COVID. It looks like it’s okay, but I don’t know.”
